McCordsville is an Indiana town located in Hancock County. An estimated 7,000 people call the town home, making McCordsville the second largest municipality found solely in Hancock County. McCordsville is situated just south of Geist Reservoir off of State Highway 67. Originally incorporated in 1988, the town is conveniently located near thriving cities, including Fishers and Indianapolis, and it is only ten minutes from I-69, I-10, and I-465.

While there aren’t many major attractions in McCordsville, there are a few places to visit in the community. Restaurants include Los Agaves Grill, Kinsey’s Italian Café, and Scarlet Lane Brewery, and shopping is popular at McCordsville Commons and the McCordsville Corner Shoppes. Tuttle Orchards is a popular destination, especially during the autumn months when apples and pumpkins are in season. The Hancock Wellness Center also offers a variety of fitness classes and workout space for locals.

Four distinct seasons describe the climate of McCordsville. The spring is wet and warm, while the autumn season is dry and mild. Summer weather here tends to be hot and humid, with high temperatures often reaching into the 80s. The right central air conditioning unit at home will keep residents comfortable when high temperatures and humidity move into the area.

Winter weather in McCordsville presents some of the most dangerous conditions in terms of climate. While average daily highs reach into the 30s, overnight lows often fall below freezing. Snowfall is also common with about 26 inches of total accumulation, and property owners need to be prepared with the right gas or electric furnace. Residents should also consider the AFUE ratio of any furnace, as higher AFUE ratings will lower fuel costs. In fact, any furnace with an AFUE of 90% or higher will be considered high-efficiency, and this investment may make a homeowner eligible for certain rebates and other government incentives.
